Torso Length Reference Tables
All recommendations, all tables, and all tables of specifications
for White Mountain™ Internal Frame backpacks, assume that you
have
Measured your Torso Length in a Straight Line.
The following tables were updated in December 2007 after
further research into the correlation between Frame Length,
Lower Back Length, Torso Length and Spinal Curvature. All recommendations
for Backpacks, matching Frame Length or Torso length, were then
also updated. Remember the incremental adjustments on the White
Mountain™ backpack harness systems assume that you have measured
along the curve of the spine. Therefore, if you measured your
Torso Length in a straight line, simply add 3 cm when making
the Torso Length adjustments on all White Mountain™ Backpack
Harness Systems.

All tables are stated using a Torso Length Straight Line Measurement
Remember each White Mountain™ backpack can be adjusted to
one size smaller or the equivalent of one stave length
shorter.
This is done as follows:
- Bending the top 5 cm of the Internal Stave away from
the head at approximately 50 to 60 degrees,
- Positioning the Upper Load Stabilizer Strap 5 cm lower
using the ‘Upper Load Stabiliser Strap Lower Adjustment
Buckle’ on the backpack.
We are then using an Internal Stave size and overall harness
length that is the next size smaller. This then allows the following
range of adjustment for each backpack.

backpacks and take into account the allowable adjustment available
on each backpack after construction of the harness system.
